Keyboard Defense

Ten were marching down the lane,
When five began to feel the strain.
They looked to their right and saw with shame
Their brethren did not feel the same.
-
“We could use a rest,”
Left’s leader cried,
“Our smallest soldiers’ all but died!”
The Right said nothing, just kept pace,
For them the march was a pleasant race.

Commander Right moved his men along,
Ignoring Left’s insistent song.
“You’ll never make them strong, Commander Left,”
He finally growled at Mid’s behest, “Perseverance is the test!”

Left gathered his men
and sat down for a smoke,
“I don’t know why he’s in charge;
Such a gruff sort of bloke.”
